Ngamatapouri School's isolation does not mean isolation from participating in many sporting events. It is usual for the children to travel to other schools within the West Country Schools' Cluster to take part in such events as Tabloid Sports or Cross Country.

Saturday Morning Netball as also participated in combining with a cluster school.

Creativity forms a big part of the sporting events that happen in Ngamatapouri. There is the annual Pig Hunt in July that involves the whole community. The children catch rabbits, eels and possums, leaving the adults to get the pigs! This activity doubles as a fundraiser and is well supported by all.

In March there is the annual Duck Race. Children create their 'ducks' and these are sent swimming down the local stream.

Each Christmas the community get together for a Christmas Party and Christmas Tree night, and in November there are the Guy Fawkes celebrations.

School camp is not limited to the older children. Because the roll is small, the whole school go away to camp for 5 days at a time. There is always plenty of community support.
